Holiday Jewellery 🌴✨

Your Holiday Jewellery Wardrobe sorted!

From what to look for when you’re there, to what to pack, the seatbelt signs are on, and we’re going on a whistlestop European Jewellery tour!

🇭🇷 Dubrovnik - Dubrovnik is an exceptionally beautiful city, with a golden history. In the 13th century Dubrovnik was the largest centre of goldsmithing in Europe. The workmanship of Dubrovnik is so exquisite that a wander down the lanes full of Jewellery shops is a must. What to shop for, gold, it‘s not really stones, as much as beautifully wrought gold, filigree so fine it looks like lace, specifically gold ball earrings.

🇪🇸 Spain is huge, with so much variety, and so many gorgeous islands, I’ve been to a few parts of Spain, mainly the very touristy places, what I can say is that there were really good pawnbrokers in all the places I’ve been, who sell both stunning Spanish Jewellery, and very often, British second hand Jewellery. I’ve bought some really good stuff in Spain, and where ever you go, the local joyeria is well worth a visit!

🇵🇹 Portugal - Porto is a beautiful city with a smattering of great antique shops, last time I was there I bought a silver bonbon dish and a couple of lovely rings. I also learnt from a local jeweller that oval halo rings are all called Diana Rings in Portugal.

🇬🇷 Corfu - Greece has a legendary Jewellery history. The Greek key is iconic worldwide, when I think Greek Jewellery, I think heavy yellow gold, very luxe. If you happen to find yourself in Corfu, there are shops that specialise in remaking the ancient designs, and they’re great, you’ll see rams heads bracelets and earrings, all beautifully made, with really lovely weight.

🇮🇹 Italy - Benvenuto Cellini, born on the night of All Saints Day in the year 1500, was arguably the greatest jeweller that ever lived. Rolex named their Cellini model after him. He is well worth Googling. If you’re travelling to Italy this summer, Venice has some great Jewellery shops on the bridge, and not as expensive as you’d think. I bought a necklace there that was stunning a few years back.

This list is only a tiny mini tour, we would love to hear the places you’ve found amazing jewellery shops, and hear about the lovely pieces you've bought on your travels! Send us some pics and tell us about it here, and we’ll do a Grand Jewellery Tour - travellers guide post 👌

🧳 Another thing to consider is what jewellery are you packing? A great statement necklace that you don’t mind getting wet in the pool or the sea, so probably not beaded or strung, or plated, the pool and sea water could wear it away quickly. A fun colourful plastic necklace that ties in with your cossie is a good call, or go for plain gold or silver.

A big Moissanite or Lab grown pendant on a solid chain would also look great, like the one the Volturi give Bella in Twilight, love that, I have been obsessed with that necklace from the moment I saw it, if you haven’t seen the film, it’s a huge antique cut diamond, on a thick gold chain, we could make it up in labs and gold, or silver and moissy, get in touch for a quote on something like that.

Earrings - a great pair of sparkly studs studs are imho as important to the holiday wardrobe as a swimming costume, they’re so wearable and comfy, and will dazzle in the water, and twinkle over dinner. ✨

💍 Another thing to consider is if you want a holiday engagement ring, moissanites make fabulous sparklers, they dance in the sunshine, and I can’t tell you the amount of people who’ve bought a moissy for holiday, and ended up wearing every day after the holiday too, they’re so beautiful!
